"Yes...well. I just hate to see the pups being picked on, they don't deserve that." she said in a sad tone, looking down at the snow covered ground. "I just wish I could do more for them..." her voice began to sound as tho she was doubting her abilities, doubting that she could ever be a good mother for the clan. With a light sigh, she stopped walking and sat down. They were in the meadow, and she never ventured outside of the woods edge unless with the pack, danger lurked beyond the woods. A snow bunny lept across the patches of snow, Nienna cocked her head, looking at it.

"Do not doubt yourself Ni. You are the strongest and most caring wolf in the pack and you will always be able to do enough if not more for the pups." Ionhar said consolingly. They had traveled far.....too far. There was danger out there....and soon....but he was sure he could handle it. With Ni's help they would be fine. Just at that moment he heard a noise. The noise was coming nearer from the meadow. Ionhar readied himself for attack.

Nienna's ears turned quickly in the direction of the crack, she as not one for fighting, but in cases where she was defending herself she had no problem. She crouched a bit, sniffing the air...and began to slowly walk in the direction of the sound, her body low do the ground... As she got closer to a patch of branches, she sniffed again...wondering what the smell was... the branches rustled, and she jumped back frightened, as a small pup wandered out with bright red fur like fire that was covered in snow! "My dear! Where did you come from!" the poor thin was almost freezing to death, "Where is your pack young one?" the pup was scared, whimpering and shivering, as he spoke, "My pack is gone... m-my mother and father were banished, we are a lone pack" he described, as Nienna pulled him into her warm fur to keep him warm. "I lost my mother, she is dead, and so is my father." he began to whimper again, tears running from his eyes. Nienna's brows arched, feeling so sorry for the pup.

Ionhar relaxed as he saw the little helpless pup. Ionhar moved in to wipe the tears off the little pups cheek and as he did so the little pup's fur blazed bright red and burnt Ionhar. "Ouch!" He exclaimed. "What is your name young pup?" He asked while nursing his paw.

The pup looked down for a second, his red fur was being brushed by the wind, but his body was numb from the cold, "Kenji" he replied, as Nienna pulled him closer protecting him from the wind. With that, Nienna picked the pup up by his back/neck fluff, and carried him into the forest, she was going to take him home. The walk was nice for the pup, he didn't have to walk and eventually fell asleep while she carted him to the clan. Kenji was awoken by being softly placed on the ground. "I shall take care of you Kenji, this is your new home." she said, smiling. "Now run along to that den there," she gestured to her den area, where there was a warmth that was constantly going from all of the fire - mother wolves. Kenji began to walk toward the den, slowly due to all of the snow that was past his legs and at his belly. Nienna walked ahead of him, at first she thought he was just playing games, but when she looked back, the very tiny pup was hopping from paw print to paw print. She laughed, and turned to face him, his tongue hanging out, exasperated. With that, she picked him up and finished the short journey, placing him in the den then turning to give Saira a break from pup-sitting. "Saira, thank you for taking my shift." she said, "Come along pups, time to go inside to the warm." All of the pups raced in the snow, none having as much problem as Kenji was having, jumping into the den all on their own. He whimpered, putting his head down and resting.

Ionhar walked back beside Nienna the whole way not saying much of anything. He didn't want to startle the little pup. He was thinking though that Ni and himself were gonn have to be the two to take care of the poor pup. All the other alphas and mothers would see him as too weak and a waste of time to look after. They would say, "this is why his pack left him....he is a weakling and does not deserve to live." Maybe just maybe Ionhar had made the best decision of his life when he asked Nienna to go on a walk with him. Hopefully this would bring him even closer to her.

Kenji yawned, exhausted from the day... Nienna laid beside him, curling around him and keeping him nice and warm. Kenji was so young, he was barely even old enough to know half the words he knew. He was the runt of his pack, when he had one. Though, the young pup was very thankful that Nienna and Ionhar had found him, he still felt out of place. "What is wrong pup...?" Nienna said, nudging him with her nose gentle. "I dunno..." Kenji said, not sure how he was feeling. "You've had a long few days," Nienna said quietly, "I think you need some sleep." She then licked his head, and laid her head down on her paws. Her blue eyes were watching the area around her, looking for anything out of the norm. She was very observant when she wanted to be, however she never had a reason to be until now. This was her chance to love a pup, and she was going to care for Kenji like her life depended on it. She looked at Ionhar when Kenji was finally asleep. "He is so tired..." she said, with a very exhausted ton on her part as well. "I will look after him...he may not be from our clan but he is just a pup." her eyes closed, and when she tried to open them she barely could. She wasn't feeling the best since the day she helped Ionhar out of the cold rain, her body felt weaker than normal that day. It was only 7 p.m. and she was ready to sleep.

Grey waited and waited for Ionhar and Nienna to return from their little jaunt through the forest. As he watched them walk back towards the den he noticed there was something hanging from Ni's mouth. First he thought it was a white rabbit soaked with blood but then he saw Ni drop it and it started to walk. He then realized that they had found a little runt pup and decided to bring him back to camp. Why did they do this? This little runt would need so much attention he would need a mother wolf with him at all times. The pack couldn't provide that. Not at such a crucial time in the year. Alpha would be picked soon and with one of the mother wolves with that pip-squeak at all times it would be that much harder to find a suitable mate. "I will have to do something about this." grey said to himself as he settled in for the night. For it had gotten dark and it had been a long day of training with his fellow alphas. As he drifted off to sleep an idea popped in his head. An evil idea of how to get rid of this pup. His laughter echoed into the night as everyones minds wandered into dreams.

When the next morning came, she awoke the pup with a nuzzle, speaking as lightly as she possibly could. She was rather tired of staying still to keep him warm., she knew that her daily tasks were getting put back. Her stomach growled with hunger, until her dear friend came up and offered her a rabbit. She guzzled it down quietly, satisfying the hunger for a while. Kenji was exhausted...This was probably the first sleep he has had in a few weeks. She felt sorry for the pup. The other pups were out playing in the sun, she watched them for a while, her stomach beginning to muster up another growl. Finally, Kenji began to stir; he was awake. Though, confused. He had forgotten that Nienna saved him for a seconds, forgetting where he was...Then yawned a large yawn, crawling over Nienna's rather large paws. He looked at the children, cocking his head and ears. He wanted to play with them so badly. Nienna noticed this, and decided to encourage him, "You should go make some friends." Kenji blinked.. then like a little fire bolt jumped from the den into the pluff of snow that was pushed down from all of the other pups.

As Ionhar awoke he heard whispering coming from some of the other alphas. Before he opened his eyes he listened. The alphas were discussing ways to get rid of Kenji. This discussion was being led by that ignorant jerk Grey. Ionhar heard many different ideas all were mean spirited and cruel but none so much as the one suggested by Gregan. He decided at this point it was time to warn Nienna. He slowly got up and made his way over to the mother den trying not to look like he was hiding something. When he got there he looked for Ni. When he found her he said, "Don't talk just listen. Something bad is going to happen to Kenji. I heard the alphas saying something about it but I can't tell you here. Grab him and let's go." He explained. He looked towards the alpha den to see Grey standing at the mouth of the den smiling and laughing an evil smile and laugh. "We need to stop him." Ionhar thought to himself.
