They were created to be a new race of super humans. Ask any of the scientists that were working there, they weren't meant to be engineered as weapons, but still could be used if a situation arose where a normal person couldn't handle it. For fifty years now, a government has been working to perfect their experiment of humans with super powers, away from the prying eyes of the public and those who could oppose what they were doing. They even had the perfect place under the cover of the mountains. The super humans couldn't cause any trouble, as they were enclosed their whole lives in the compound, only knowing information about the outside world that the scientists provided for them. Their creators insisted that they would be safer on the inside anyway. Fast forward to present day; no one knows how the explosion happened. The scientists working in the department where the explosion originated all perished in the fire. What is certain is this, a second group of experiments that almost no one knew about except the department working on them, bred to be monsters, has been released. The super humans are now on the run, both for their own lives and to save humanity from destruction.
Note: The super human experiments are between the ages of four and thirty. If you want to be someone else, like say a scientist or civilian, age doesn't matter.
